Severe Weather Worship Cancellation Plan
I. Plan B: In the event of severe and hazardous weather, we will hold the 10:45am service only, with the 8:30 and 9:30 services being cancelled. This will allow additional time to implement an alternate plan, plus do some cleaning of walkways and parking lot. Pastor Hamill will nearly always be available to lead the 10:45am service for those staff, volunteers, and attendees who are able to attend.
II. Timing of Decision: Sunday worship service cancellation will be determined by 7:00am. The staff will be notified, who in turn will notify those with duties in services that day. Other notices will be posted with area TV and radio broadcast stations, and any personnel needed to prepare the parking lots and sidewalks.
III. Notification of A Change In Worship: Notification to the congregation will be available on the church phone answering message, the home page of the church website, www.groveumc.org, on Tulsa and Joplin television and radio stations, and a Special ENews will be sent to all subscribers. We ask if you know of any who do not have access to any of these avenues of information to please make personal contact. Please note that radio station KGVE 99.3 FM will not have this information as their office is closed Sunday mornings.
We are making a list of radio stations to notify in the event of service cancellation. Please email therr@groveumc.org with the call letters of your favorite radio station. If you have questions about our new cancellation policy, or if you wish to volunteer to help with any of the above, please contact the church office twimer@groveumc.org, 786-5148.
